To me a special gift is something you possess without even knowing you have it until someone tells you that you have it. I am told I have the gift of persuasion, and my best friend paul has the gift to make you laugh or smile even when he is not in the room with you.
My mother had the special gift of compassion. She had the ability to know what to say, when to say it an exactly how to say it, to comfort, compliment, or just say the right thing at the right tome to the right people. If you ever had the opportunity to see her present this gift, you know exactly what I am talking about. Her compassion goes further than just in words. Her actions as a wonderful person, who would put other’s needs and feelings ahead of hers, was a wonderful display of her catholic belief and strong inner self. I remember her waking up in the early morning on Christmas eve to cook delicious polish food for the entire family to enjoy for our Wigilia feast which began at the appearance of the first star (homemade pierogis, sausage, ham, and more). She would be up all evening as the perfect host which was capped off by midnight mass. To this day I don’t know how she did it. I wish I has 1% of the compassion she displayed every day.
I believe if we think about it, my mom taught each and everyone a lesson on sincerity, kindness and compassion.
I will miss you mom.

Your Son Always,
