Condolence: I am a niece (by marriage) of Aunt Mary. I was so heartened, but not surprised, to read your memories of her. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of Aunt Mary’s visits to Timmins, Ontario. The tapestry of her life experiences from growing up in Poland, then to coming to Canada at a young age, were so potent and unbelievable that I wrote down many of her stories as I wanted her legacy to carry on. Aunt Mary was a family icon with a strong, resilient personality. She was an iron fist in a velvet glove – a trustworthy lady with the gentlest of souls. Her inner and outer beauty, grace and presence will be missed greatly by so many. I am truly blessed to have known this amazing lady. I can honestly say that I consider Aunt Mary to be one of the most influential persons that I’ve be lucky enough to have had in my life.

Condolence: Freddie,

How do you honor an icon who has touched so many people in her life. All of us baby boomers remember Mary's Deli as part of our everyday life. Her generosity to all our parents when they had times of need just to feed our families. Thank goodness for that book. Then there was us kids always sledding on the hill and I am sure making a ton of noise. She did have to chase us out a few times for being unruly, but this lady never aged and never lost her smile. I will miss coming home from work everyday seeing her sitting on the side of the house enjoying anybody who stopped by to say hello. We will always treasure these memories. May God Bless her abundantly and shower her with the love she gave so many.

Condolence: Freddie, So sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. Our family lived across from the store for many years and we often remisce about the countless good times and many laughs we shared with Pani (as we called her). Pani was family to us. She was a wonderful person who would do anything for anyone. I also have vivid memories of her gorgeous rose garden. Yes, she even had time to create a garden. We love you, Pani. Rest in Peace

Condolence: Here I am, halfway across the world in Finland, mourning a kind soul who was so much a part of my childhood in the 1960's. When I think of all of the blessings in my childhood, Mary is among them. She was always so kind to us neighborhood kids, smiling and even, in my case, teaching me basic math, as we calculated how much candy I could buy with my handful of change :). I am grateful for the privilege of her life touching mine. Many condolences to family and friends.
