The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mary Pendrys can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Memories

During the last year or so, Aunt Mary would reminisce about the past.  She told me stories about the fun Halloween parties Aunt Florence held  at her bar,  the wonderful Christmases on Bush Street, especially when Uncle Leo, Uncle Frank and Uncle Eddy would have numerous contests on who had the BIGGEST and BEST Balsam Christmas tree and who could forget that awlful one way parking on Bush Street!  She especially liked the picnics at Akron State Park and vacations at Wasaga Beach with my mom, Aunt Irene, Alan ,Ann, Art, Claudia and myself.   She enjoyed talking and having coffee with friends on Woodette Place. Aunt Mary' said she felt safe and contented at her new home at Elderwood.  She had nicknames for several of the workers that made her feel loved  and welcomed.  I heard her call them Honey Child, Baby Face, and Baby Doll.  She was even called Grandma!   I asked Aunt Mary what was her favorite dessert she liked to bake.  Her reply:  ShoFly Pie!   Even though she lived in Buffalo for 70 years, you knew  she was still a TRUE TO HEART PENNSLYVANIA DUTCH  GIRL! I will deeply miss you, your niece Judy.
